Raivis Melnis has been serving as the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Latvia since May 28, 2026. Upon taking office, he emphasized his commitment to strengthening national defence and rapidly integrating tactical lessons learned from the war in Ukraine into Latvia’s security framework.
