Digital Identity Workshop

As Europe moves from policy to deployment of the European Digital Identity Wallet, the conversation is shifting—from what digital identity should be to how it actually works in practice. Governments, industry, and users are entering a critical phase where technical standards, governance models, and real-world adoption begin to intersect.

With the 2026 implementation deadlines approaching, the window for experimentation is rapidly closing. Decisions taken now will have long-term implications for how digital identity functions across Europe—making this a moment of both urgency and consequence.

Building on last year’s discussions around who builds, owns, and pays for digital identity, this workshop focuses on the next stage of the journey—where strategic decisions start translating into operational systems and real user experiences.

  • Where does Europe stand in the rollout of EUDI Wallets—and what has meaningfully changed since the initial pilots?
  • What are the most pressing challenges emerging right now—from interoperability and trust frameworks to user adoption and business models?
  • How will roles and responsibilities evolve between governments, private providers, and users as digital identity moves into everyday use?
  • How can Europe develop certification frameworks for EUDI Wallets that ensure trust, security, and interoperability without slowing down implementation and innovation as deployment deadlines approach?

This roundtable will bring together 15–20 key stakeholders from European governments and leading technology vendors to engage in a candid discussion on the future of digital identity in Europe.

We’ll explore financing models, technological constraints, and the balance between interoperability and security—at a moment when implementation deadlines are fast approaching and key design choices can no longer be deferred.

We think this co-creation event could be particularly interesting to:

  • Governmental representatives from Europe
  • Technology vendors in the digital identity and e-wallet space
