Latvia’s Chip Ecosystem Meeting: Aligning Priorities, Accelerating Impact

The chip sector represents a complex and globally interconnected value chain, and it is a cornerstone of technological innovation, economic growth, and societal development. For Latvia, active involvement in this global value chain offers opportunities not only to advance diverse industries such as electronics, automotive, and healthcare, but also to enhance Europe’s overall competitiveness and resilience.

Latvia’s Chip Competence Centre plays an important role in building Europe’s chip future. Yet its success depends on strong collaboration across the local ecosystem – industry, academia, policymakers, and innovation hubs working together to strengthen capacities and accelerate progress. This workshop will bring together stakeholders from across the Latvian ecosystem to present progress to date, share future plans, and engage in open dialogue.

Two focal points of the workshop will be:

  • Chip ecosystem mapping – an overview of the Latvian landscape, highlighting not only the key actors and capacities of the Competence Centre, but also industry clusters, research strengths, and areas where collaboration can accelerate growth. This mapping provides a strategic foundation for identifying synergies and guiding joint development.
  • Industry survey results – insights gathered directly from Latvian companies and stakeholders, reflecting current needs, challenges, and opportunities within the sector. These results will help validate ecosystem priorities and ensure that future initiatives are aligned with real demands from industry and contribute to broader societal goals.

By engaging the full Latvian ecosystem – Competence Centre, industry, and academia – this workshop seeks to deepen cooperation and contribute to Europe’s ambition of building a strong, interconnected, and globally competitive semiconductor value chain.
