The highly anticipated 5G Techritory Forum is just around the corner, taking place on October 30–31, 2024. If you haven’t already, now’s the perfect time to finalize your schedule and mark the must-see panels on your calendar.

This year’s forum, with “Technology Shaping Tomorrow’s Territory” as its central theme, will feature discussions on AI, quantum technologies, the future of 6G, and more. With three stages – Opening Ceremony, Innovation & Technology, and Policy & Strategy – the full agenda is packed with insights for everyone.

1. AI Race – Policies for Adoption in Europe

Over the past few years, AI technology has rapidly become an integral part of work in various sectors. However, as with any technological development, the rise of AI use has also raised many questions about implementing appropriate policies that govern its use. 

This panel will feature a review of the already existing and proposed AI policies in Europe, followed by a discussion on the future roadmap. The panelists will also debate AI overregulation vs. underregulation and possible cooperation models between lawmakers and industry to find the best possible approach.

2. Mastering the Waves for Maritime Autonomy – Keynote Presentation

Ensuring reliable communication in maritime environments is crucial for the success of autonomous operations. This keynote presentation, delivered by Anne Stephen, Vice President of Critical Infrastructure & Networks at Rohde & Schwarz, will examine the challenges and solutions surrounding spectrum dominance, exploring how uninterrupted communication can be maintained at sea.

The session will discuss strategies for monitoring the spectrum, locating emitters, mitigating interferences, handling non-cooperative drones, and more. The presentation will also look at the best practices for measuring and monitoring network coverage and performance, focusing on mobile and non-terrestrial networks (NTN) to ensure optimal maritime connectivity.

3. E-Identity Innovation: Building Secure Digital Wallets for EU Citizens – Hosted by The Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development

As the digital economy grows, secure e-identities and digital wallets are becoming essential for EU citizens to access online services and fully engage with the digital world. This panel, hosted by the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development, will explore the latest advancements in e-identity technologies, focusing on the development of secure digital wallets. 

The panelists will discuss the importance of user-centric design, ensuring accessibility for all citizens, including those with disabilities or special needs. Other topics for discussion include privacy and security concerns in e-identity regulation, encryption standards, cybersecurity best practices, and interoperable and standardized solutions across EU member states.

The discussions will also cover the role of post-quantum technologies in securing data in transit and at rest, with a special look at the encryption of sensitive information. 

In addition, the event will discuss national strategies for preparing and adapting to a post-quantum era and highlight successful initiatives and collaborative efforts already in place.

The speakers will also be asked to share what mobile connectivity initiatives their organizations are implementing to strengthen defensive positions and the benefits and challenges of these efforts.
