Europe’s leading 5G-centered event returns in 2022! This year, celebrating its 5th anniversary, 5G Techritory will take place on November 29-30 in Riga, Latvia, and online, adopting the award-winning phygital format once again. Save your seat – registration is already open.
We are excited that this November, 300 of the 5G industry’s leading minds and voices will have the exclusive possibility to meet and attend the event in person in Riga. It’s been too long since we’ve had a 5G celebration in the flesh!
This year’s overarching theme is Future Life. Over two days, 110 speakers will explore the practicalities of enabling a 5G-powered future and imagine the form that future networks, technologies, and services will take.
While we all count the days until the 5th 5G Techritory goes live, here’s a list of six must-hear speakers in this year’s event lineup.
Mr. Colin Willcock
Colin Willcock is the Chairman of the Governing Board at 6G IA with detailed knowledge and experience in telecommunications, having worked with many major industry players for over 28 years.
Mr. Willcock has extensively participated in standardization activities at ETSI, ITU-T, and 3GPP. He has also been active in the European research ecosystem, leading several award-winning projects.
“The 6G-IA is driving the development of 6G in Europe with the creation of the Smart Networks and Services partnership together with the European Commission. […] One of the association’s key goals is to ensure a single global 6G standard,” Mr. Willcock says.

Mr. Ingmārs Pūķis
Ingmārs Pūķis has been the Marketing and Business Development Vice President and Member of the Management Board of LMT since 2009. He has two decades of experience in telecommunications, marketing, and business development. Ingmārs is also a member of the Latvian Internet Association and the State Administration Policy Development Council.

Ms. Sylvia Lu
Sylvia Lu is a Head of Technology Strategy at u-blox, a Board Advisory at UK5G, and 5G-ACIA’s Board Member. Ms. Lu has been recognized as one of the most influential women in UK tech and named one of the most influential 5G experts and voices.
With 10+ years of experience in the telecom industry and being a multi-award-winning chartered engineer, a non-executive director, advisor, and an ambassador, Sylvia Lu is undoubtedly a must-hear speaker at this year’s 5G Techritory.

Mr. Slawomir Pietrzyk
Slawomir Pietrzyk is the CEO and Founder of IS-Wireless, a company developing and delivering 5G mobile networks in the Open RAN model. Slawomir is an expert in wireless technologies and the author of the first book on OFDMA, “OFDMA for Broadband Wireless Access”, published in 2006.
Mr. Pietrzyk expects the “future of wireless connectivity to be based on shared wireless infrastructure”, adding that “the hardware platforms won’t necessarily have been developed for communications purposes initially.”

Ms. Anne Stephan
Ms. Stephan was appointed Vice President of Critical Infrastructure & Networks at Rohde & Schwarz in 2020. Before that, she contributed significantly to the company’s success as Vice President of Market Segment Wireless Communications and Senior Director of R&D, leading international development teams for Mobile Radio Communication Testers.
“The importance of 5G for me personally is the change, and […] it’s really important what matters to the user. […] We have to adapt to and also implement different criteria into our testing and measurement equipment. And we need to think also about what innovative test methods we can bring in to handle all of the data that we are collecting,” says Anne Stephan.

Mr. Benjamin Sokolowski
Benjamin Sokolowski is Qualcomm’s Vice-President of Government Affairs EMEA and the Managing Director for Germany and Austria. He oversees the company’s government relations in Germany and Austria and supports its growth in the digital transformation of new industries such as automotive and industrial IoT.
Mr. Sokolowski comments on joining the 5G Techritory speaker lineup in 2022:

Mr. Konstantinos Masselos
Konstantinos Masselos is the President of the Hellenic Telecommunications & Post Commission (EETT) and has also been elected as President of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) for 2023 and the Vice-President for 2022 and 2024. Mr. Masselos is also a Professor at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Peloponnese and served as the Rector of the University from 2012-2017.
Prof. Masselos points out that “5G needs to be more than just speeding up downloads or quadrupling the resolution of mobile videos we are streaming. It needs to have a socio-economic impact in order to be financially sustainable. It also needs to contribute to significantly improving the network’s efficiency by advancing network continuity, lowering latency, and reducing power consumption. A prerequisite to meet these goals is to exploit the novel capabilities 5G brings in network design, abandoning the traditional radio deployment architectures of 3G and 4G networks of the past. The focus needs to shift to mm-wave enabled Microcells and Picocells that will be deployed densely with residential areas and will enable operating very low power RANs.”
Looking at the future, as regards the implementation of 6G networks, he stresses that “5G experiences will play, without a doubt, a key role in our wireless 6G future. The challenges that we will need to address include, but will not be limited to, work on standards, interoperability, new business models, spectrum availability, coverage, Quality of Service (QoS), sustainability, security, and resilience, always keeping in mind that overregulation prevents innovation, especially in the cases of emerging technologies and ecosystems.”

Mr. Peter Stuckmann
Peter is Head of the Unit and Deputy Director of Future Networks in DG CONNECT, managing the European Commission’s policy on 5G communication systems and the related research and innovation program. Last December, he was appointed Interim Director of the newly established Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking, responsible for managing its office and implementing its work program until its autonomy.

Mr. Tomas Lamanauskas
Tomas Lamanauskas is Deputy Secretary-General-Elect of the International Telecommunication Union, elected at the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference of 2022 and due to commence his duties as of 1st January 2023.
His 25-year experience in telecoms and digital policy, regulation, and strategy includes positions of Member of the Board, CEO and Deputy General Director of national communications regulatory authorities in Europe, the Middle East, and the Caribbean, and senior government advisor on information and communications technologies policy in the Pacific.
“High-quality access to the digital world, including through 5G, is crucial if we want to have a chance to achieve our sustainable development goals. Looking forward to discussing at 5G Techritory how we can bring state-of-the-art connectivity to all, even in the challenging economic environment, how to ensure the resiliency of the digital infrastructure, and how technological development can support the most important tasks for humanity right now, especially tackling the climate crisis,” says Mr. Lamanauskas.

Mr. Jonas Wendel
Mr. Wendel has served as the acting Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers since September 2022. He has been the Chief of staff to the Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers from 2019 to 2022.
