Mr. Kiukucāns has worked for the Ministry of Defence of Latvia for over 12 years. He has worked with defence policy, particularly EU Common Security and Defence Policy. Edgars has been heavily involved in preparing the EU Presidency of Latvia, being the EU coordinator of the Ministry of Defence and later being the representative of the Ministry of Defence at the EU and NATO working groups.
Since 2021, Mr. Kiukucāns has worked with cybersecurity and cyberdefence policy, and since March 2023, he has been the Director of the Cybersecurity Policy Department at the Ministry of Defence.
