With more than two decades of experience at Zetes, Geert has been working on secure identity solutions for government, building a strong understanding of digital identity, trust services, cryptography and digital transformation. Over the years, his work has covered areas such as electronic signatures, qualified certificates and trust services, with a particular focus on eIDAS and how the regulation translates into practical solutions.
Today, Geert leads a team working on mobile identity solutions for government clients, with a strong focus on the implementation of the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW). This includes the full journey from providing the wallet and validating identities, to issuing credentials such as Personal Identification Data (PID) and other attestations, as well as enabling qualified electronic signatures directly through the wallet.
A key part of this work is making sure that the solutions are not only compliant with eIDAS 2.0, but also work in practice and can integrate with the wider digital identity ecosystem. This means working with international standards such as ISO, OpenID and W3C to support interoperability across borders.
