Since September 2023 Inga Bērziņa is the Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, responsible for environment protection, regional development as well as digital transformation and Implementation and coordination of the e-Governance. It includes establishment of one-stop principle for provision of state and local government services and implementation of modern and effective information and communication technologies in the public sector.
The Minister’s priority is the sustainable development of Latvia, ensuring a favorable and modern living environment for its citizens.
Inga Bērziņa has been elected to the 14th Saeima and had been the Chairperson of the Social and Employment Matters Committee. She has many years of experience in local government as the Mayor of the city of Kuldīga, whose old town had recently been included on the UNESCO the World Heritage List. She has also been a member of the Latvian delegation to the Committee of the Regions of the European Union and a freelance adviser to Prime Minister on regional development issues.
