Peter is Head of the Unit for connectivity policy and the legal framework in DG CONNECT coordinating the Digital Networks Act initiative. Before he led the European Commission’s policy on 5G communication systems and acted as Interim Director of the 6G SNS Joint Undertaking.
Before Peter was appointed Head of the Unit, he coordinated the Digital Single Market Strategy, was Head of the Sector “Spectrum Policy”, coordinating the 2012 Roaming Regulation, and the EU R&D program leading to the 4G mobile communications standards.
Before joining the European Commission in 2004, Peter occupied several engineering and management positions in industry, academia, and startups. He holds engineering and doctoral degrees from RWTH Aachen University, Germany.
