Santiago Encabo is a Naval Architect and holds an MBA. He worked in the shipbuilding industry before joining EMSA to develop the EU network of pollution response vessels. He then joined the ship safety sector, where he worked on several topics, including the revision of the EU Passenger Ship Safety legislation.
Currently, Santiago is Head of Unit for safety and security, coordinating EMSA activities in relation to ship safety, marine equipment, port state control, accident investigation, and ship security. He has also coordinated the first European Maritime Safety Report (EMSAFE).
