Tanja Wahlberg is Head of the Digital Infrastructure Division within the Projects Directorate of the European Investment Bank (EIB). She leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for the technical, economic, environmental and social appraisal of digital infrastructure projects considered for EIB financing, while also contributing to the development of sector strategies, policies and eligibility frameworks.
An economist specialising in innovation and technology, Tanja has held a range of senior roles across the EIB since joining the Bank in 2013. Prior to that, her work focused on innovation policy, emerging technologies and the design of public policies supporting technological and economic development. She holds a PhD in the Economics of Innovation from the Helsinki School of Economics.
